August Photo Round Up

My birthday was at the beginning of the month and I wanted to spend it at the beach looking at tide pools, something I haven’t done since I was a kid. Unfortunately, in order to get to the tide pools you had to hike down a steep trail to the beach and then walk a ways to where the tide pools were. It was pretty hot and humid that day and I get heat exhaustion easily so we didn’t go to the tide pools. We did walk a little bit down the beach, though, and it was the first time I had gotten my feet wet in the ocean in six or seven years.

After the beach we drove down Rodeo Drive which I’ve never seen before. There were lots of people taking selfies or doing photo shoots. One young women was part way into the street trying to take a picture of herself. I was reminded of David Spade on Instagram poking fun of people lying in the street to take a photo.

I would have liked to have parked and walk around a bit, look at the high end stores, people watch, but we’re still in a pandemic. No way am I mingling in public in a big city like Los Angeles.

This is the smoke from the Apple Fire. I got a great a view of it from my apartment balcony.

And finally nature shots from walks, featuring my mother, and one of the stray cats at my apartment complex.

March Photo Round Up

I think we can all agree March sucked. The whole world was cancelled and we’re all basically on lockdown. Obviously these are necessary measures to take in order to save lives, but it’s still difficult to process. I’m so sad I won’t be able to go to another game at PK Park before I move or to any other Oregon sports event.

But at least I live in a rural area and can be outside as much as I want without posing a health risk. This has motivated me to focus on nature photography. In times like these nature is a nice reminder that no matter how much society grinds to a halt the natural world keeps going on as normal. Winter is changing into spring, flowers are blooming, animals are out and about. Eventually things will get back normal in our world too.

August, September, October Round Up

I’ve really been neglecting my non-sports related photography the past few months. I hardly ever got my camera out just to play around with it. There are only four (4!) photos on my computer from September. Even this past October I didn’t get any pictures of fall leaves or other fall scenes. There aren’t many bright colors around my house and I just didn’t have the motivation to go into town to find some. Anyways, here are the photos that interested me the most from the past three months.
